Orange Tip Trio Pinning Workshop | July 18th 1PM
Summer is here, so lets pin some sunshine in butterfly form! Did we mention its 3 specimens?!?
In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to prepare and pin three butterfly specimens, building your skills and confidence with each one as you move from delicate wing-setting to more intricate detail work. We'll start with the Great Orange Tip (Hebomoia glaucippe), whose bold white wings are tipped in fiery orange and black — one of the largest of the "whites," found across the forests, grasslands, and stream banks of South and Southeast Asia, where its dead-leaf-mottled underside offers a clever disguise at rest. Next, the Orange Tip Angled Sulphur (Anteos menippe), a soft yellow beauty from the Amazon basin — found in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela — known for gathering in large, eye-catching clusters along riverbanks. Finally, the Brimstone Wing (Hebomoia leucippe), a close cousin of the Great Orange Tip, endemic to the Moluccas and Peleng in Indonesia, where its warm, sunlit coloring stands out against the region's lush island forests.
Expect a calm, detail-oriented experience with plenty of guidance and interesting facts along the way. As you work through all three specimens, you'll refine your pinning technique, learn to appreciate the small differences that distinguish one species from another, and develop a sharper eye for the subtleties of wing shape, color, and pattern. You'll leave with three professionally mounted butterflies — a radiant, sunset-toned trio to display together or apart.
✨ All supplies included
✨ No experience needed
✨ Just bring your curiosity (and an eye for color)
Space is limited — don't miss your chance to work with three of the insect world's most vividly beautiful fliers.
